Climate Change

Most of our storms came in winter
Out of the northwest
Safe
Predictable
Monotonous
Leaving no discernible damage
Nothing to repair

This time from the south
I should have known
Cold electric stillness
Erupting into
Anger and violence
Weeks of unrelenting fury
In its wake a debris field
Of open wounds
A landscape forever changed
That no make-up sex
Or wine and roses
Could ever restore
