Memories of Air

Latch-broken hood
blowing across my windshield
at sixty mph on a Wyoming morning drive

Electric ozone-infused air
racing ponies across a field
just before a thunderstorm

Clockwork predictability
a cooling breeze up the North Fork
on a hot summer afternoon

Into a crosswind
quartering northwesterly
for two hours on an icy Idaho interstate

Salty updrafts
surrounding me
on a bluff overlooking a twilight Alaskan sea

Gunshot crack
a splintering frozen tree
high on a windy winter mountain ledge

A glassy sea
first rippling
on a dead calm morning

Moments in time

Memories of air
